about us
Here at Halo Horse we have been working hard to bring to you horse products that go ‘back to basics’ as much as possible using what nature has provided for us. Unrefined beeswax, vegetable glycerin, carrier oils and essential oils provide the base for all our products.
Our favourite essential oils are Manuka oil, lavender oil, neem oil, and tea tree.

Why Manuka oil and not Manuka honey?
According to Manuka Biotic, Manuka Oil is 100 times stronger than Manuka honey when compared gram for gram! It's even 30 times stronger than TeaTree Oil! This incredible oil is an effective antibacterial, anti-fungal, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory ingredient.
We only use the NZ Manuka oil that is high in triglycerides and ketones, meaning it has a stronger healing structure. This isn’t cheap, but it makes for a potent healing product.

Tea tree oil contains a number of compounds, including terpinen-4-ol, that have been shown to kill certain bacteria, viruses, and fungi.

Lavender oil has been known to have anxiolytic, anti-inflammatory, antinociceptive, antioxidant, and antimicrobial effects.

Neem oil contains high level of antioxidants,Essential fatty acids, Natural triglycerides, Vitamin E, Calcium, and Anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties, it is also an Anti-inflammatory, as well as being an excellent insect repellent.

We use unrefined beeswax. Non of our products need refined beeswax so we save on costs by using beeswax straight from an apiary in Kaitaia.

Vegetable glycerin, is used in a lot of our products as Studies show that applying glycerin-containing products may protect skin against irritants and microbes, as well as soothe inflamed or wounded skin.

The other oils that we use are Almond oil, olive oil, mineral oil, and coconut butter, these carrier oils generally contain components such as fat-soluble vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other nutrients that improve the look and feel of skin and hair by adding moisture, soothing irritation, and reducing the effects of dryness.

With all these wonderful ingredients how can we go wrong.
Some of the recipes we use are tried and tested recipes that have been proven to work time and time again, such as the beeswax water proofing bars.
For others we’ve taken the basic recipe and given it our own personal tweak, and a few we’ve concocted ourselves.
As with all skin products, a test patch should be done 24 hrs before use to check for allergic reactions.

We hope you like our range of horse products.
